Vancouver man charged with second-degree murder in 2021 Burnaby shooting

A 27-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the 2021 shooting of Neal Pratap in Burnaby.

The Burnaby RCMP responded to a call of a shooting in the 6100 block of McKee Street in Burnaby at around 10:07 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2021.

Police located Pratap, who was “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” noted a police news release Saturday (Oct. 25). He was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and worked alongside the Burnaby RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS).

Liam Reilly was arrested on Oct. 24, 2025, by IHIT with help from the Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT). The BC Prosecution Service charged Rieley with one count of second-degree murder.

“This shooting took place in what is usually a very quiet neighbourhood in Burnaby,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “Residents in the area were certainly surprised and left feeling uneasy after this incident.”

Reilly remains in custody until his next court appearance.
