Police in Ottawa are looking for additional victims after charging a man for several immigration fraud-related incidents.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims of the alleged fraudster, including in the Surrey area as well as the Greater Toronto Area, Calgary and Vancouver, a release issued Friday (Oct 24) noted.
In September 2024, an investigation was launched into several incidents that occurred between January and July 2024, where the suspect allegedly posed as an immigration consultant and defrauded multiple individuals.
Ottawa’s Vinay Pal Singh Brar, 35, has been charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of possess(ing) stolen property over $5,000, assault, assault by choking, and uttering threats.
Brar has operated under several aliases, the release continued, including Gagandeep Singh, Warisdeep Singh, Waris Singh, Waris Deep Sehmi, and Harsh Harsh.
Anyone with information or who believes they may have been a victim is asked to contact the Det. Pelletier of the OPS West Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 2653.

The release also cautioned the public to be careful when dealing with immigration matters, and to ensure anyone offering immigration services is licensed by the provincial or federal government.
