A former B.C. correctional officer is facing two charges of breach of trust by a public officer.
B.C. Prosecution Service approved the charges against Ramandeep Rai, née Bassi, on Oct. 15, according to a news release from Coquitlam RCMP Thursday (Oct. 23). Rai was employed at the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam at the time of the alleged offences.
Rai’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 20.
Police said the first offence is alleged to have happened between July 14 and Sept. 29, 2022 and the second offence is alleged to have happened between Sept. 11 and 29, 2022.
