Rona is getting behind the Rustlers.
The home improvement retailer is offering up to $4,000 in sponsorship to the Ridge Meadows Rustlers U18 midget squad.
It’s part of the Rona Rookies program that will see 150 teams across Canada supported.
This sponsorship initiative is designed for teams in which children whose parents and grandparents work at RONA are playing. In the Vancouver Coast and Mountains area, two teams will benefit from the company’s commitment for the 2025-2026 season – the Rustlers and the Coquitlam Comets U18.
“This year, we’re proud to support twice as many local hockey teams as last year, which means that more kids will get the opportunity to practice the sport in better conditions,” said J.P. Towner, company president and CEO. “This program reflects our desire to get involved at a local level and contribute to improving accessibility to the sport for young Canadians. Supporting hockey means supporting a game that is dear to so many local families.”
The goal of this sponsorship is to allow selected teams to purchase equipment, reduce registration fees, take part in tournaments, and get apparel featuring their team colours.
“Each selected team is much more than just a hockey club; it is a place where kids learn about perseverance, teamwork and pushing their limits,” said Catherine Laporte, chief digital and marketing officer. “We are thrilled to help create the kinds of unforgettable experiences that shape the youth of our communities.”
