Ridge Meadows Flames lose two games, get back to winning on Sunday

The Ridge Meadows Flames suffered a pair of losses on Oct. 16 and 17, but got back to winning on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Port Coquitlam Arena.

The Flames lost 3-2 to the Richmond Sockeyes on Thursday of last week, and then were shut out 3-0 by the Chilliwack Jets at Cam Neely Arena the next night. It was tough back-to-back games, with Richmond leading the Tom Shaw Conference (11 wins, one loss) and Chilliwack in third place (7 wins, four losses, including an overtime loss) – right behind the second place Flames, who now have eight wins and three losses.

The Flames battled the first-place Sockeyes, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game on a pair of goals by rookie forward Manny Sandhu, but then lost with 20 seconds left.

Sandhu has been filling the net in his first six games, with five goals and six points.

The Jets blanked the Flames 3-0, winning despite a great effort by Flames rookie goalie Nathan Niedermeiser, who allowed just two goals on 46 shots. He’s played three games, and boasts a save percentage of 0.942.

Sunday against PoCo, the Flames offence got rolling, with goals from six different scorers. Defenceman Erik Sollied and foward Iverson Graveline each had a goal and an assist, while Jacob Roche, Devan Bahia, Cohen Muc, and Sandhu all scored. Morgan Clark and Brayden Yee each had two helpers.

The Flames next game will be Oct. 24 at Cam Neely Arena, when they again play the Trailblazers. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
