Live music night in Kelowna raises $40K for BC Children’s Hospital

Align West Homes brought together good music and great vibes at Kelwona's Revelry Food and Music Hub on Oct. 3.

Music for the Mighty raised more than $40,000 in support of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.

“This community continues to show incredible heart,” said David Pfuetzner, founder of Align West Homes and drummer for the event’s house band, Gun Shy. “To see so many people come together with such generosity and purpose is truly inspiring. Every dollar raised goes directly to families who are facing the hardest moments of their lives, and knowing that gives this night real meaning.”

For Gun Shy's Jordan Hansum, the evening was extra special with his daughter's artwork auctioned off to raise more funds. Hansum's daughter previously received life-saving care at BC Children's Hospital.

“I’m often reminded how much good can come from community and creativity,” said Hansum. “Seeing my daughter's artwork help raise money for the hospital that saved her life really brings things full circle.”

Funds raised through Music for the Mighty support the social work department at the hospital, assisting more than 300 families each year.

“When families from communities like the Okanagan must travel to BC Children’s for care, these funds mean we can say yes more often to gas cards, meal vouchers, and urgent support that helps families focus on what matters most: their child’s health,” noted Katherine Broad, Professional Practice Lead for Social Work at BC Children’s Hospital.

In two years, Music for the Mighty has raised over $100,000.
