The execution of two search warrants in Saanich led to the seizure of $55,000 worth of drugs earlier this month.
On May 15, the Saanich Police Department’s Patrol Division, with support from the Street Crime Unit (SCU), the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, the Integrated Canine Service and the Forensic Identification Section, executed search warrants at a residence in the 400 block of Dupplin Road and a connected storage locker in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.
The warrants were executed following extensive proactive policing by Patrol Division officers in the Midtown area, with support from the SCU.
The search resulted in the seizure of approximately three kilograms of what is believed to be fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, along with 10 litres of GHB, together worth approximately $55,000.
“A significant amount of stolen property was also recovered, including heat pumps, air conditioners, generators and lawn mowers, valued at approximately $25,000,” the police department said in a news release. “The rightful owner has been identified, and the items will be returned.”
Two individuals were arrested at the time and later released.
Patrol officers and the SCU continue to investigate and anticipate recommending several drug trafficking related charges.
