More ways to recycle in B.C. with Interchange Recycling

There are more ways to recycle with Interchange Recycling.

The environmental organization that’s dedicated to the collection and recycling of used automotive fluids is expanding their services across British Columbia with 11 new automotive container categories.

The expanded list of recyclables includes automotive adhesives, automotive aerosols, brake fluid, conditioners, degreasers, fuel system cleaners, lubricants, automotive sealers, solvents and stabilizer containers.

”We are making it convenient for residents of British Columbia to recycle these materials more effectively with a trusted partner,” said Jenn Robson, director of operations at Interchange Recycling.

“The containers accepted under the program are recycled into new products such as oil containers, drainage tiles, and parking curbs, ensuring they are properly recycled and put back into use.”

Before the switch, Interchange Recycling was limited to just oil and antifreeze containers.

Last year, Interchange Recycling collected nearly 50,000,000 litres of used oil in B.C.

“When properly recycled at one of Interchange Recycling’s dedicated public collection sites, used oil can be recovered and reused,” said the organization in a written statement.

“Oil filters are processed for their metal content, which is recycled into products like rebar, nails, and wire. Used oil and antifreeze containers are recycled into new containers, drainage tiles, and parking curbs, while used antifreeze is refined and reused as new automotive antifreeze.”

People interested in learning more about accepted materials can head to the Interchange Recycling website for information.
