Police in Surrey are releasing the photos of two foreign nationals who have been arrested and charged in an extortion-related shooting.
Damanjeet Singh, 22, and Pardaman Singh, 30, have both been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place knowing or being reckless as to whether someone was present, and one count of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license, a Surrey Police Service release noted.
The charges are in relation to an overnight April 22 shooting where shots were fired at a home in the 13400-block of 87A Avenue, where the resident had been a victim of extortion threats.
The gunfire caused damage to the residence and a vehicle; thankfully no one was injured, SPS said.
Surrey Police Service’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) took over the lead on the investigation, a suspect vehicle was identified, and a search warrant was obtained, which SPS ExRT members executed at a home in Surrey with the assistance of the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, Canada Border Services Agency, and other SPS teams.
Both men were arrested during the execution of the warrant and are now charged with multiple Criminal Code offences; both have been remanded in custody. Their next court dates are scheduled for May 19 and June 1.
As they are both foreign nationals, SPS has engaged Canada Border Services Agency, the release said.
SPS is taking the extra step of releasing both men’s photos in the hopes of prompting additional witnesses, victims, or associates to come forward with relevant information regarding the activities of the two men.
SPS is asking anyone who has information on Damanjeet Singh and Pardaman Singh to contact SPS’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca to remain anonymous.
SPS also noted the Surrey Extortion Reward Fund of $250,000 was established to offer people with key information the ability to collect a reward if charges and convictions of those responsible for these crimes are secured.
As of Monday (May 11), there have been 98 reported extortions, 16 related shots fired incidents, two arsons and 51 extortion victims (27 repeat) in Surrey in 2026.
