Teen Pitt Meadows musician releases debut EP

A teenage musician from Pitt Meadows has released her debut EP, a collection of songs rooted in folk/country.

Becca Stefanson is only 17-years-old, but her musical journey started when she was nine and she honed her craft through school performances, community events, and regular appearances on the local open-mic circuit.

On Thursday, April 9, the budding artist released “Going Forward, Looking Back”, six songs encompassing her full body of work.

“The EP is about looking back and reflecting on past experiences,” explained Stefanson. “With all the songs I wrote, I felt there was a common thread between them all, and I knew I wanted them to be listened to together.”

It is described as a collection of songs that balance introspection with relatability, offering listeners an honest snapshot of growth, curiosity, and creative discovery.

Stefanson’s father, Todd Stefanson, recorded, produced, and mixed the EP.

Along with her debut EP, Stefanson is also sharing a new single with her fans, “How I Feel”, a tender, romantic ballad that highlights Stefanson’s gift for vivid storytelling and emotionally grounded songwriting.

“‘How I Feel’ is a song about longing for something with someone that no longer feels within reach,” explained Stefanson.

“This song is inspired by all the stories of heartbreak I have heard, and imagining myself in their place,” she added.

Stefanson draws from a wide range if influences including: classic artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, and Jeff Buckley to contemporary voices including Clairo, Lizzy McAlpine, and Gracie Abrams, as well as 90s rock.

She will be holding an EP release show from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Foamers’ Folly Brewing Co., at 19221 122A Ave, Pitt Meadows.

“How I Feel” and “Going Forward, Looking Back” are available now on: Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide.
