Threats made to Nechako Valley Secondary School were found to be not credible, according to Vanderhoof RCMP.
Police received a report of possible threats to the school on March 1. Following an investigation, Cpl. Brett, RCMP spokesperson, said no information has been identified to suggest the threats are credible.
However, out of an abundance of caution, Vanderhoof RCMP have increased patrols in the area of the school. These additional patrols are intended to provide visibility and reassurance to students, staff, and the wider community, said Cpl. Brett.
“At this time, we do not believe there is any risk to the public or to those within the school,” said Cpl. Brett. “We understand that these types of reports can cause concern for parents and the community, and we want to reassure everyone that we are actively investigating and will continue to maintain a presence around the school.”
Police continue to work closely with the school administration as the investigation progresses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222.
