Flames host Chilliwack on Tuesday night, riding eight-game win streak

The Ridge Meadows Flames are back in action tonight, Feb. 17, as they enter the last week of the regular season.

The reigning Pacific Junior Hockey League champions have just three games left before they begin their title defence in the playoffs. Tonight they take on the Chilliwack Jets, at 7:30 p.m. at Cam Neely Arena.

The Flames are riding an impressive eight-game winning streak, and that includes two wins over tonight’s opponent – including a 7-1 beatdown of the Jets on Feb. 1 in a rough game that saw a combined 289 minutes in penalties.

On Saturday night, the Flames got a 5-4 overtime win over Delta at Sungod Arena. The Flames got four goals in the second period, and then the Ice Hawks tied it in the third with four of their own.

Erik Sollied was the overtime hero, as the defenceman got his 15 goal of the year. He also had two assists, and team captain Zack Lagrange was the first star of the game, with a goal and an assist.

Lagrange played his 200th game in the PJHL on Friday, and after 201 games the reigning league MVP has 289 points.

On Friday night, the Flames doubled the Burnaby Steelers in a home game, as Matthew Biros had three assists, and defenceman Tyler Blatz, Lagrange and forward Jonah Power Smith each had a goal and an assist.

Goaltender Nicholas Muc made 26 saves on 29 shots to get his seventh win in seven appearances as a Flame.
