Abbotsford officer charged in relation to serious 2025 crash

An Abbotsford Police officer has been charged with a driving offence related to a serious collision a year ago.

BC Prosecution Service stated in a press release on Tuesday (Feb. 17) that Const. Scott McClure has been charged with one count of driving without reasonable consideration.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC announced in January 2026 that charges were being considered in relation to the crash that took place on Feb. 20, 2025 at the intersection of King and Gladwin roads.

The Abbotsford Police Department reported following the crash that two officers were in a police vehicle driving on King Road when the collision occurred with a GMC Envoy at it approached the intersection.

The driver and sole occupant of the Envoy sustained serious injuries, and the officers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The IIO – which investigates officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death – was notified of the incident shortly after it happened and began an investigation.

The IIO stated on Jan. 9 of this year that after the evidence had been reviewed, “reasonable grounds exist to believe that an officer may have committed driving-related offences.”

The matter was then referred to BCPS for the consideration of charges.

McClure is due to make his first appearance March 12 in Abbotsford provincial court.
