Calder Cup spending New Year’s Eve at Abbotsford’s Castle Fun Park

The Calder Cup is spending New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) inside one of Abbotsford’s iconic destinations – Castle Fun Park.

The family-friendly amusement park announced that they have teamed up with the Abbotsford Canucks to bring in 2026 and celebrate both the new year and CFP’s reopening following the flood.

Festivities run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at CFP, which is found at 36165 North Parallel Rd in east Abbotsford.

“Castle Fun Park is proudly partnering with the Abbotsford Canucks to host a special New Year’s Eve Party on Saturday and we’re transforming a beloved tradition into a powerful demonstration of collective spirit and resilience following the recent flooding in the Sumas Prairie area,” stated CFP’s Sue Bossley in a press release. “More than just a party, this event is about coming together, supporting one another, celebrating our strength as a community, and looking ahead to a bright year with family and friends.”

The park officially reopens on Boxing Day (Dec. 26) after several weeks of closure due to recent flooding. The NYE event is also a food drive for Archway Community Services.

Event highlights include:

• Festivities: The party will feature a New Year’s countdown complete with a balloon and Canuck foam puck drop giveaway at the family-friendly time of 8 p.m.

• Food drive: Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item for a chance to win a $100 CFP playcard.

• Surprise “power play” promotions: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Grand prize draw: The overall grand prize draw offers the chance to win a family pack of four Canucks tickets and a $100 CFP playcard.

• Activities: Activities include a puzzle and craft creative zone by The Owl and Cat Bookery, an inflatable hockey target shooting game and a Canucks swag zone.

• Photo opportunity: Fans can have their photo taken with the Calder Cup and a commemorative NYE frame.

CFP made news last week by revealing that a perimeter wall erected after the 2021 floods and the work of volunteers helped them reopen much faster after this flood.

“After the 2021 flood, we built a concrete lock-block wall with some waterproof materials to keep the surface water at bay,” Owner Brian Wiebe said on social media following the flood. “This past weekend was extremely close to the water height in 2021, but the wall held it back.”

He confirmed that the arcade, bumper cars, and go-karts will all be available on Boxing Day.

“We’re deeply thankful for the incredible support from our community and immensely proud of the effort from our team,” said Wiebe. “We’re excited to welcome guests back and look forward to a fun, festive season ahead.”

The Abbotsford Canucks return to action after the holiday break by heading to Coachella Valley and battling the Firebirds on Dec. 27. The team then travels to San Diego to take on the Gulls on Dec. 28. Abbotsford will ring in the 2026 in Winnipeg, as they take on the Manitoba Moose on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.
