A shark was seen in the waters near Sicamous Wednesday morning.
The Shark Shack broke from its winter mooring near Old Town Bay, with a social media post reporting it near Annis Bay, on its way to Salmon Arm.
Debbie O’Hara posted a photo of the floating restaurant that went AWOL on Nov. 26, adding she called Shuswap Marine Freight who were on their way to retrieve the errant barge.
Mike Helfrick, owner of the Sea Store which is always moored over winter beside the Shark Shack, reported that his unit is still “safe and sound,” making the iconic yellow barge the only one gone rogue.
Salmon Arm Fire Chief Brad Shirley also heard about the boat on the float and called owner Ian Gray to report the great escape.
“My wife’s out at our cabin actually and seen it drifting by,” he said of the sighting out by Annis Bay. “I got a hold of his wife, and they are aware of it and are heading out that way to rescue (it).”
